Do you ever feel like you’re spinning your wheels but not really getting anywhere? Or like you’re trying so hard and your efforts aren’t paying off or aren’t being recognized at all?
I feel like it’s fairly common for us to strive to meet expectations that are placed on us by others, that we place on ourselves, or that we feel are socially acceptable and widely accepted as the standard for doing things. These expectations stifle us and lead us to a feeling of not quite being “enough.” They keep us from being and reaching our potential because the weight of the expectations is too much for us to manage. It changes us by stealing our joy, our creativity, and our humor.

Intentionally Defining Expectations
Yes, it’s a strange combination of two words that mean something incredibly different. So what does it mean to me? I believe we all need to define our own expectations carefully and with intention. We need to decide for ourselves what is most important to us and have a code to live by so we aren’t thrown about trying to live up to someone else’ expectations for us. We need to decide on our greatest priorities and values and THAT’S where we need to focus our efforts. We decide what to pursue and we define what success means by our own standards. We do that by being intentional.
But even in that, I believe we need to allow ourselves some grace because we aren’t perfect and we will fall short. That’s why I use the word dabblings as our efforts in this life are in a way experimental and our experiments won’t always be successful. I think it’s important to realize that and release ourselves from the fear of it.
Once we’re able to focus our efforts and quite taking ourselves so seriously, we’ll find it easier to notice the people around us and to begin reaching out to provide encouragement and support.
My Personal Mission
I’m using my creations in an effort to spread love, hope, and kindness by spreading this message of being intentional with our expectations and our energy without fear and without comparison.
Intentional Dabblings: I write about faith, family, crafts and hobbies, and sometimes health and wellness topics particularly mental health and perfectionism.
Intentional eBooks (coming soon): I have a series of books planned covering a range of topics. The first is: Becoming an A+ Mama (and other notes on intentional motherhood). 20% of the profits from the sale of this book will benefit our local Mothers of Preschoolers and Women’s Outreach ministries.
Fibers of Joy (coming soon): A christian gift shop with the mission of spreading love, hope, and kindness through the gospel message. These gifts serve as a tangible reminder of the love of Christ because even when we fall short, He makes up the difference.
I want to spread joy by inspiring others to pursue positive experiences, to think pure and healthy thoughts, and to reflect the joy, kindness, and hope that they wish to see in the world. Together, we can make this world a more beautiful place.
“Keep Moving Forward.”
