So I’m driving down highway 31, thinking about this big dream I have. Something so big that it borders on Crazy Town. Do you have a dream that big? Well…as I was driving along daring to dream big, the song, God Help Me, by Plumb came on the radio and the words, “God help me to Go” echoed in my mind.
When God Said “Go”
God gave special assignments to many people in the Bible. But there were some that he specifically told to “go.” Sometimes they had to leave their homeland and settle among strangers. Sometimes he was calling them to anoint a new king or a new prophet. Sometimes he was sending them into battle. Noah was told to “go into the ark.” Adam and Eve were told to “go forth and multiply.” Mary Magdalene was told “go find my brothers” to tell them that Jesus had risen and would meet them in Galilee as he had said he would.
God’s “Go”s Seemed Crazy (By Human Standards)
If God told you to Go. Would you hesitate? If you think about it, each of God’s “gos” seemed certifiably crazy.
Go approach this stranger’s youngest child and anoint him future king? The youngest? Really?
Go tell the disciples that Jesus rose from the dead? Really? A corpse? Walking around?
Go live in an unknown place among strangers? Just go and I’ll tell you when you get there. Do What?
Go get in a big boat in the middle of the desert? Oh yeah, after you load it with a bunch of animals.
Is God Behind Your Dream?
But how do you know he’s called you to it? I asked myself that same question! And I wrestled through the answer in another blog post. Go check that one out and come right back here when you’re done because I have something to show you here. Plus, if you don’t answer that question for yourself, then you’re bound to hesitate on your God-given Go (calling).
Is Your Dream Big? Take Courage!
Crazy-sized dreams and tasks are God-sized dreams and tasks. When God plants a dream inside you that’s so big it’s crazy. Go. Do it. Don’t hesitate. It will take unwavering faith and the courage when all of your friends and family look at you like you have 5 heads. But God will give you the courage. If he has called you to it, he will see you through it.
Remember, people didn’t think Noah was so crazy when the rain started and that little boy that Samuel anointed future king was King David. One of the greatest Kings to ever live and very much loved and favored by God. And if the disciples hadn’t believed Mary, they would have missed out on one heck of a reunion at the Sea of Galilee.
When God says “Go,” let’s Go.
P.S. Remember I said to come right back here if you went to read that other blog post? This is the thing I wanted to show you. To help us with our “going,” I made this graphic:
