Learning new stuff helps keep me motivated and focused. Right now I’m passionate about my mission to spread love, hope, and kindness through Intentional Dabblings and Fibers of Joy. To do that, I need to kick things up a notch. So I picked up a copy of Business Boutique.
Business Boutique Book Review
Typical business and leadership books are written by men geared toward becoming the greatest leader of big teams. Christy Wright is a female entrepreneur writing FOR women. The majority of women who want to start a small business aren’t interested in leading big teams. Their aspirations may not be to earn a six figure income. They are more interested in being able to to pay for their child’s soccer camp. Or maybe they are like me and they want to assist my husband in paying down the mortgage.
My dream is to give 20% of profits to local charities that have the same mission that I have: to spread love, hope, and kindness. I want that 20% to be substantial enough to make a difference. I want it to be enough to encourage those on the receiving end of it.
Why I Love It
Christy has experience coaching women in business and she uses the stories that she’s accumulated to help her book come to life. The stories illustrate that these are real women with real businesses who are navigating real problems and they are succeeding. It encourages me because if they can do it, then I can do it too. We’re all meant to use our God-given talents and experiences to encourage one another and it’s fun to see Christy doing just that in her work.
Christy covers all the bases of business. The topics range from defining your mission and goals to managing your time, dealing with people, keeping good records, pricing, and marketing. She covers everything having to do with starting and running a business.
The book also contains practical worksheets at the end of each chapter so you can begin applying what you’ve learned. Having those worksheets there at the end of each chapter encourages the reader to take action on the material that was just covered while it’s still fresh in their mind. She stressed that taking the time to write out a plan makes it more real and helps you to own your goals.
Join Me as a Business Boutique Lady…
If you’re a female entrepreneur, you can grab your copy and help me grow my 20% by using this link to go to Amazon. As an Amazon affiliate a portion of your purchase will go into the Intentional Dabblings proceeds that help me in my mission.
What’s great about Business Boutique is that you almost feel like you’ve joined a club of women who are doing business and supporting one another. If you’re a lady in business, it’s not easy but its fun building something from the ground up. You get to define it and I wish you the best. Maybe we’ll meet each other at a Business Boutique conference someday (yup! Christy hosts conferences for female entrepreneurs too)!
P.S. You can see what I’m reading now on the side bar to the right side of this page. The link there is an affiliate link so you can get your copy, help me grow the 20% and keep Intentional Dabblings going. Otherwise, I might have to get a “real” job. LOL
