Obviously, I’m a blogger and a logical next step for me would be to write a book. So I had a rough idea in my mind for a book about motherhood and I worked on it here and there like I was molding clay. The problem was that it didn’t feel like a book. It was just a compilation of different stuff on motherhood. But then I recognized a trend among moms. Hidden somewhere inside each of us, we wonder: am I messing up my kids?
Am I Messing Up My Kids?
We might joke about it openly but the fear is real. It’s a tiny touch of doubt for some and it causes pervasive anxiety for others. We’re all plagued by it on some level, so I started to ponder why we have this fear and what could we do about it.
Why, this worry?
Here’s why I think this worry is such an issue for moms today:
We feel like every decision is being noticed.
Information overload makes us question our decisions.
We have easy access to images of other parents doing their thing, making us question our thing.
There’s a cultural myth that moms know everything making us wonder if our intuition needs a tune-up.
Purpose for the eBook
Suddenly, my little book wasn’t just a collection of cute little motherhood anecdotes anymore. It had a true mission and purpose. I began to see that the book is necessary because moms need encouragement, strategies and a renewed perspective. I started devising strategies for moms to utilize and free themselves from this worry: am I messing up my kids? My background in psychology, business, and ministry gave me the tools I needed and I began to apply those concepts to motherhood.
A Happy By Product
I found that through the research and writing of this book, my own perspective on motherhood changed and I started to approach my children from a happier and more confident place. I believe that we’re all A+ mamas doing the best we can for our kids and making decisions we believe are best for our family. Sometimes, we just let the pressures of being a mom cripple us. Like kryptonite to superman. But we can quiet the fear of messing them up and therefore, become the moms we’re meant to be and enjoy our children on a different level.
If you’re in need of some mom encouragement and a renewed perspective on motherhood, be on the lookout for Becoming an A+ Mama (and other notes on intentional motherhood). It is set to launch on July 24, 2017. Just remember that you’re already an A+ Mama.
